Top 10 Comedy Movies of All Time

Forget algorithms and "watch next" suggestions — these are the comedies that actually matter. The ones people quote at dinner tables, rewatch every few years and still lose it at the same scenes. No rankings, no discourse, just the funniest movies ever made. If you disagree with any of these, you're wrong, but we can talk about it. 😂🎬

Here we go:

  1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

    1975

King Arthur and his knights embark on a quest for the Holy Grail in medieval England. Absurdist, anarchic and endlessly quotable — "it's just a flesh wound" has been said more times than any line in cinema history.

  2. Airplane!

    1980

A traumatized ex-fighter pilot has to land a passenger jet after the crew is incapacitated. The gag density is insane — jokes land every 5 seconds, and rewatching it reveals ones you missed the first three times.

  3. Groundhog Day

    1993

A cynical weatherman gets stuck reliving the same day over and over in a small Pennsylvania town. Bill Murray at his absolute peak — somehow funny, philosophical and genuinely moving all at once.

  4. The Big Lebowski

    1998

A case of mistaken identity drags a laid-back LA slacker called "The Dude" into a kidnapping plot. The Coen Brothers made a film with almost no plot that somehow became one of the most rewatchable movies ever made.

  5. Superbad

    2007

Two best friends spend one chaotic night trying to get alcohol for a party before they graduate high school. Crude, honest and unexpectedly sweet — the friendship between Seth and Evan feels completely real.

  6. Bridesmaids

    2011

A down-on-her-luck woman spirals while trying to be the perfect maid of honor for her best friend's wedding. Kristen Wiig co-wrote and carries the whole thing — the airplane scene alone is worth the runtime.

  7. This Is Spinal Tap

    1984

A documentary crew follows a struggling British heavy metal band on their disastrous US tour. Rob Reiner invented the mockumentary format here — and every musician who watches it gets slightly too uncomfortable.

  8. Some Like It Hot

    1959

Two musicians witness a mob hit and go on the run disguised as women in an all-female band. Billy Wilder directed this in 1959 and it's still funnier than most comedies made today. The last line is perfect.

  9. The Grand Budapest Hotel

    2014

A legendary concierge and his lobby boy get caught up in murder, theft and political upheaval across a fictional European republic. Wes Anderson's most purely fun film — every frame looks like a painting and the jokes are razor sharp.

  10. Dumb and Dumber

    1994

Two spectacularly clueless friends drive across the country to return a briefcase to a woman one of them has a crush on. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have no right to have this much chemistry. Dumb in the best possible way.
